Come out to run the trails and get dirty with us!
The Wrong Distance Runners founders came together as a group of participants in the Leukemia Society’s Team In Training. However, they soon grew somewhat uninspired by their road experiences and sought out more exhilarating adventures on the many beautiful and welcoming trails surrounding the Sacramento area. There are over 150 people in the Wrong Distance Runners (WDRs), representing a wide spectrum of experience levels and paces. We are not so much about competition as we are about fulfilling experiences and group support. We are a team, we are friends, and we are all stronger and happier runners through shared laughter and dirty feet. Our name comes from taking a wrong turn now and then, which is a delightful eventuality out on the trails. Robert Frost wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–I took the one less traveled by.” For a WDR that sometimes means running some bonus miles, but often leads to a more enjoyable and scenic route!
About Coach Dianne Meyers
I am an RRCA certified coach and am familiar with the pleasure and pain of distance running, having completed over 80 marathons & ultras. I’ve run all distances from the marathon to the 100 miler. I’ve run races at over 14,000 feet and 105+ degrees; I know challenges. I’ve been organizing WDR group runs since 2005, and have coached numerous runners to their first ultra finish. Working with runners and growing the ultra community is something I find very productive and rewarding. I’m very excited to take on this new endeavor of coaching for NorCal Ultra Events.
